Compliance Issues Related to Personal Information Protection in Online Community Marketing

China has been strengthening supervision on personal information protection amid its cyber economy boom. It has caused widespread concerns over how to legally use consumers’ personal information obtained on e-commerce platforms for community marketing by the brand owners. In this memo, we have briefly introduced and analyzed some of the most common compliance-related issues involved in the processing of consumers’ personal information in brand owners’ community marketing activities.
