The coronavirus outbreak has been hitting China’s economy hard, but approach to curb the spread of the virus has also become an unexpected boon for at least one industry: online education, which has attracted serious attention from both domestic and foreign investors. In order to launch e-learning courses, education companies need to obtain various operating licenses and permits. In this reference memorandum, our lawyers have briefly summarized and analyzed key license requirements for online education platforms based on applicable PRC law and the latest practice and shared some of our observations and practical recommendations.
