Anna Yu is a partner of Han Yi, specializing in the areas of private equity M&A and strategic and minority investments. With nearly two decades of active practice, Ms. Yu has developed extensive experience advising numerous prominent private equity firms, institutional investors, public and private corporate giants and industry leaders on a wide range of complex transactions, including cross-border mergers and acquisitions, buyouts, strategic and minority investments, exits through trade sales and IPOs. Ms. Yu also regularly counsel on restructuring, divestiture, spin-off, intellectual property matters, regulatory compliance and transaction-related dispute resolution. While
industry-agnostic, Ms. Yu’s expertise encompasses diverse sectors including
technology, media and telecommunications (TMT), consumer and retail, healthcare
and life sciences, advanced manufacturing and materials, infrastructure,
financial services, as well as hotels and real estate.
Prior
to joining Han Yi, Ms. Yu worked as a corporate associate in the New York
office of Kirkland & Ellis and the Shanghai office of Jingtian &
Gongcheng for several years, during which time she serviced private equity
clients, large-scale PRC state-owned enterprises as well as public and private
companies involving M&A, capital market, fund formation and other general
corporate matters.
Ms.
Yu has been recognized as one of the “Leading Partners" in China’s
private equity practice area by The Legal 500 in its 2023 and 2024 editions,
and a "Rising Star Partner" also in this field by IFLR1000 for the
past several years. She co-authored the inaugural edition of Chambers' 2019
Global Practice Guide for Private Equity in China and lectured at a few leading
private equity industry forums.
Ms. Yu was educated at the University of Chicago (LL.M.) and East China University of Political Science and Law (LL.B.). She is admitted to the Chinese bar and qualified to practice in the State of California. Ms. Yu is fluent in English and Chinese.
